Causes of the Beirut Port explosion

A port on the coast of Beirut exploded, causing untold damage, killing more than 150 people and wounding 5,000 others.
This is the biggest explosion in the history of Lebanon.
The strange shape of the explosion
At first there was a cloud of billowing smoke mixed with reddish gray.
Then the sounds of small explosions with blasts, followed by a huge blast that caused a strong sound wave.
This form of the explosion indicates the interaction of chemical materials, what caused the explosion?
 The cause of the explosion
Questions abounded about the cause of the explosion. Some of them said fireworks, and some said that missiles exploded.
In fact, the cause of the explosion was 2,750 tons of concentrated ammonium nitrate stored in the harbor in an unsafe way that had been discharged from the Roussos ship.
 What is the ship Roussos
In 2013, the Roussos ship, a Moldova flag crane, set sail from Georgia bound for Mozambique, loaded with highly concentrated ammonium nitrate, to be delivered to a buyer from Mozambique.
The ship is owned by a Russian businessman who lives in the Greek Cypriot administration.
It stopped in Istanbul, Turkey, for one night due to a crew dispute over wages, and then headed to Beirut port, for reasons mentioned by the ship's captain named Paris.
Before and after the explosion

 the reasons
Paris said: The ship's owner ordered them to go to Beirut to load an additional cargo because money was needed to cross the Suez Canal.
There, the ship was seized for non-payment of the port wages, and the captain and three of the crew were detained with the ship to supervise it - according to what the captain of the Roussos ship said.
After 10 months, the detained staff returned to their country after hiring lawyers.
As for the owner, he declared bankrupt and abandoned the ship.
The cargo was unloaded to the port, after which the ship sank.
These dangerous materials remained in the port since then, that is, nearly 6 years, until they exploded and caused the disaster.
 Questioned
Why did the government of Lebanon keep this dangerous substance in a place close to the population, knowing how dangerous these fertilizers are ?!
